The silky and refined flavors are wonderfully seductive with an intense minerality to the austere, bone dry and balanced finish that exudes hints of saline and iodine. This is also completely classic and even more aromatically complex with a plethora of sea shore nuances to the cool green fruit scents. On the palate this is dense, powerful and quite serious with brooding flavors that brim with dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine on the intensely mineral-driven and explosively long finish. This is the biggest wine in the range yet impeccably well-balanced and if not exactly refined, then certainly not rustic either. A 'wow' wine. Burghound 93-96 Don't Miss!

(Corton-Charlemagne- Domaine Bouchard PÃ¨re et Fils) All of the vines owned by the domaine on the hill of Corton face directly east, so this is one of the â€œcoolerâ€ examples of Corton-Charlemagne- which I find to be amongst the very best in these days of global warming, as they retain greater nervositÃ© in general than examples from vines with more southerly-oriented expositions. The 2011 from Domaine Bouchard is a great wine, soaring from the glass in a complex mÃ©lange of apple, a touch of grapefruit, lime oil, chalky, stony soil tones, orange zest, vanillin oak and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and quite reserved in personality, with a rock solid core of fruit, brisk acids and stunning length and grip on the perfectly balanced and youthful finish. The percentage of new oak here will only be about 10% by the time of the bottling (it's aging mostly in one- and three-year-old barrels).

There is excellent concentration to the powerful and extract-rich big-bodied flavors that possess an almost chewy texture before terminating in a gorgeously long, dry and well-balanced finish. This will also require 6 to 8 years to be at its best. (Drink starting 2017)

Highly aromatic nose offers scents of white peach, flowers, chlorophyll, spices and herbs. Fat, rich, supple and sweet; much more silky and less austere than the "regular" Clos. Lovely impression of sucrosite . Finishes with enticing lingering sweetness and a firm mineral edge. This wine become more integrated even with ten minutes in the glass; it should offer considerable near-term appeal and age well. For his part, Fabien Moreau finds it a bit "excessive" today and believes it will benefit from its remaining months of elevage .

Finishes long and fresh, with very good lift and surprising volume to the finishing flavors of minerals and spearmint. Billaud's three parcels in Montee de Tonnerre were planted in 1935, 1971 and 1979.

As with the two previous wines there is a trace of post-bottling sulfur in evidence though it's not enough to significantly mar the attractively complex nose that is classic Chablis in character. There is very good richness to the detailed but opulent flavors that remain focused and display plenty of finishing minerality. There is really lovely intensity to the dry and precise finish and overall, this offers terrific quality for a villages level wine. Recommended. Burghound 90 Outstanding Top Value!

This was quite closed and somewhat difficult to read but aggressive swirling grudgingly liberated ripe aromas of sea breeze, pear, lemon rind, oyster shell and mineral reduction plus an abundance of typical floral scents. The large-scaled flavors are overtly powerful and impressively concentrated as there is plenty of palate staining dry extract that also buffers the very firm acidity that supports and shapes the gorgeously precise finish. This explosively long effort possesses exquisite balance and the tightly wound flavors are going to need at least a decade to completely bloom. A knock out. Burghound 93-96 Don't Miss!

Noticeable but not invasive wood treatment frames the otherwise ripe and perfumed nose of green fruit, apple, lemon and sea breeze aromas. There is fine richness and mid-palate concentration to the very generous, supple and round flavors that possess plenty of mouth coating dry extract and positively stunning length on the explosive finish. There appears to be sufficient density that this should be able to absorb the wood in time. While there is more wood than I personally prefer there is no doubt that this is a seriously impressive effort that is built to reward mid-term aging. Burghound 94

Here the nose displays noticeable sulfur and it's enough to knock down the expressiveness of the otherwise attractively ripe and complex aromas that are compositionally similar to those of the Chevalier. The textured, concentrated and overtly muscular flavors brim with an abundance of dry extract before concluding in an explosively long, mouth coating and almost painfully intense finish. As is often the case, the 2010 La Cabotte displays characteristics of both the Montrachet and the Chevalier and this is one beautiful wine. Note that I do not expect the sulfur to be an issue as the wine ages though if you're tempted to try a bottle young it would be good to decant it first. Burghound 96 Don't Miss!

On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with magical purity on the attack, a rock solid core of fruit, laser-like focus and flawless focus and balance on the very, very long, youthful and stunning finish. Here there is no reduction and the purity of the elegant if highly restrained nose of citrus, acacia blossom and pungent wet stone aromas is stunning. Not surprisingly, the medium-bodied flavors are much finer than those of the BÃ¢tard or Corton-Charlemagne though not as big or powerful. The acid spine is also quite firm but somewhat better integrated as there is no obvious malic tang, all wrapped in a gorgeously intense, lingering and impeccably well-balanced finish. As with the Pucelles, the trace reduction and sulfur notes aren't enough to completely mask the naturally spicy and ever-so-subtly exotic fruit aromas. The detailed, vibrant and stony medium weight flavors possess excellent verve and are shaped by the moderately firm acid spine on the balanced, long and notably dry finish. There is ample richness and dry extract that confers a generous mouth feel to the mid-palate but overall, this is a classy wine of refinement and precision. Burghound 93 Outstanding!

The 2008 Clos de la Barre is extremely elegant and refined in this vintage. The bouquet is deep, pure and complex, as it offers up scents of apple, pear, fresh almond, a touch of tangerine, a lovely base of complex minerality and a touch of vanilla. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and complex, with great transparency, fine mid-palate depth and a long, classy and zesty finish. Delicious juice. Â 92+ points.

As it almost always is, this is aromatically more refined with admirably pure and wonderfully fresh hazelnut and peach aromas laced with discreet exotic fruit and citrus hints adding pretty top notes. There is good volume to the precise and energetic middle weight flavors that possess a bit more underlying material and fine length on the bone dry finish. I particularly like the complexity and overall sense of harmony.Â 90 points and Outstanding.
