(a 50/50 blend of 70- and 45-year-old vines; vinified with about one-third whole clusters): Bright medium red. Delicate aromas of red raspberry, violet and licorice. Dense and sappy if youthfully clenched, offering terrific sugar/acid piquancy to the taut flavors of red raspberry, red cherry and pepper. Boasts superb energy on the long, rising, firmly tannic finish. Distinctly a cool, combe-influenced wine--less solid and dense than your typical Gevrey. This had only recently finished its malolactic fermentation. -- Stephen Tanzer 90-93 A gentle application of wood frames the notably earthy and sauvage aromas of dark berries and humus. There is a lovely sense of freshness and vibrancy to the delicious, intense and saline middle weight plus flavors that deliver excellent depth and length on the well-balanced finale. This is very Gevrey in basic character and will need at least 10 years to reveal its full potential. Burghound 90-93
