The 2011 Marconnets was also still in barrel and really on form at the time of my visit, soaring from the glass in a blaze of black cherries, cassis, espresso, woodsmoke, gamebirds, dark soil tones and a pungent topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and again, very pure on the attack, with a very soil-driven personality, a lovely core of fruit, suave tannins and superb length and grip on the classy and still quite youthful finish. (Drink between 2022-2050) John Gilman 93+
