Aromas of warm stones, dark fruits and walnuts follow to a full body, soft tannins and a savory finish. This shows ripe fruit and salty undertones that give the red a wonderful juiciness. A racy, opulent wine, the 2010 Lamaione hits the palate with masses of intense black fruit supported by the cool structure of the year. Chocolate, mocha, graphite, violets and French oak are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. The tannins could use another few years to soften, but there is more than enough fruit to support years of drinking. Readers who gravitate towards big, full-bodied reds will adore the 2010.
