Allen Meadows' Burghound, February 2011
(from a full 1 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines aged in approximately 1/3 new oak with a slightly longer élevage than the prior wines) Here the sulfur is not subtle and will clearly require some time before it is fully integrated as the ripe aromas of peach, pear and citrus struggle to be detected. By contrast there is good verve and punch to the bigger, richer and more concentrated full-bodied flavors that possess notably better depth and length if not the same finesse. Still, this is the more complete wine though be aware that it may not be the best choice to try young due to the SO2; if you are going to try one, be sure to decant it for 20 to 30 minutes first.
93 points and Sweet Spot Outstanding.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, September/October 2010
Palish yellow. Musky peach and clove oil on the nose. Creamy, rich and stuffed with stone fruit and spice flavors. In a very ripe, Meursault-like style but with enough lemony acidity to maintain its shape. Big, mouthfilling wine with slightly elevated alcohol.
92 points.
