Allen Meadows' Burghound, Jan 2011
This is also quite heavily reduced though the energetic flavors display an attractive mineral streak that continues onto the solidly intense finish that is given form by the relatively fine tannins in the context of a villages level wine. 87-89 points.
John Gilman's View from the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2010
The 2009 Clos Solon is a beautiful wine that jumps from the glass in a sappy blend of red and black cherries, cocoa, violets, lovely soil tones and just a touch of mustard seed in the upper register. On the palate the wine is fullish, pure and intensely flavored, with a lovely, sappy core of fruit, quite fine-grained tannins and really lovely length and grip on the nascently complex finish. An utterly sophisticated young Morey villages. (Drink between 2014-2035) 88+ points. |
