Allen Meadows' Burghound, Jan 2011
An earthy and very Gevrey nose offers up dark berry fruit and game-infused aromas that complement well the brooding, robust and complex medium weight plus flavors that possess fine mid-palate density, all wrapped in an intense and driving finish. This is a lovely villages and worth your consideration. 89-91 points and Outstanding!
John Gilman's View from the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2010
The 2009 Gevrey Vieilles Vignes bottlings is also exceptional this year, as it offers up a deep and complex nose of red and black cherries, a touch of blood orange, hints of the meatiness to come, lovely soil tones and fine topnote of fresh herbs. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and beautifully sappy at the core, with ripe tannins, fine focus and a nice tanginess on the long and complex finish. 89+ points. |
