John Gilman's View from the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2010
The 2009 Vaulorent is a breathtakingly beautiful bottle of young premier cru in
the making. The fantastic nose offers up a complex blend of green apples, pink
grapefruit, lime, a very complex base of flinty soil tones, smoke and a bit of citrus peel.
On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very pure, with a rock solid core of
fruit, laser-like focus, great cut and grip and a very, very long and complex finish. I
would give this great wine three or four years in the cellar to really let it blossom, and
then drink it with wild abandon over the ensuing couple of decades. 2014-2035+.

A classic and marvelously elegant nose of oyster shell, tidal pool, iodine,
green fruit and dried white flowers is very much in keeping with the
concentrated, powerful and serious middle weight flavors that culminate in
a sappy finish of superb length. This is most impressive, especially for
its impeccable balance. Burghound 93 Outstanding! |
