Allen Meadows' Burghound, May 2011
Here the nose is less elegant but more complex still with a dazzling array of spice, floral, earth, underbrush and red currant aromas that lead to rich, powerful and velvet-textured big-bodied flavors brimming with ample amounts of dry extract that relegate the firm tannic spine to the background on the mouth coating and hugely long finish. This is quite a serious effort but it's not especially rustic and this too will require plenty of cellar time to reach its peak. 92-94 points and Sweet Spot Outstanding.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, January/February 2011
Deep ruby-red. Black fruits, violet, licorice and minerals on the nose. Dense and ripe but sappy and not at all thick, with its impressive volume cut by violet and spice. This boasts an impressive combination of sweetness, vibrancy and powerful underlying structure. Finishes with saline and chocolate notes and excellent lift. Offers superb potential. 92-95 points. |
