This is more often than not the finest 1er in the Sauzet range and so it is again in 2005 with a touch of wood framing white flower and notably ripe orchard fruit aromas, particularly peach, pear and apricot and this ripeness continues onto the sappy, concentrated and powerful flavors that manage to be at once fleshy yet precise with a hugely long and palate staining finish. This is a big wine and while it's not quite as big as the Bâtard, it's almost as complex. A classy effort. Burghound 93
