Burghound Tasting note:
Green apple, wood spice and brown butter notes introduce incredibly intense, huge and very ripe flavors that drive though to an explosive and palate staining finish. This is a big wine carrying plenty of wood yet there is a good chance that it will successfully integrate it with a few years in bottle as there is terrific dry extract here.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 05
Cool, musky aromas of underripe pineapple, clove, menthol and oak char. Fat, creamy and rich, with intense apple and spice flavors. A very pliant style of Corton-Charlemagne, not at all hard. This is a blend of three parcels, with a piece in Pernand-Vergelesses accounting for 50% of the wine.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 06
($101; according to Girardin, all these '04s were racked without air at the end of August, 2005, then returned to used barrels with their lees until they were assembled in tank for three weeks prior to being bottled in March of 2006, fined but not filtered) Pale yellow. Aromas of mirabelle, nutmeg, candied ginger, and spicy, vanillin oak. Tight, taut and penetrating, with a powerful structure and very firm acidity suggesting that this grand cru will need at least five to seven years of aging. The '05 version is much easier and sweeter in comparison, but this is chewy, powerful and gripping, not to mention elegant. Finishes very long, with notes of mint and wet stone.
