Talenti’s Podere Pian de Conte estate is headquartered south of Montalcino itself, in ancient buildings facing the beautiful Orcia River valley. It was founded in 1980, when the late Piero Talenti, an Emilia Romagna transplant, acquired a property he had coveted since the 1950's. Working with select Brunello clones and employing traditional winemaking techniques, he was soon making some of the region’s most elegant wines. All the grapes come from Talenti’s 50 acres of estate vines, which sit 200 to 400 meters above sea-level on south-southwest facings opposite the village of Sant’ Angelo in Colle. The winemaker (since 1999) is the highly esteemed (Gambero Rosso “Winemaker of the Year” in 2000) Carlo Ferrini.
