Allen Meadows' Burghound, April 2003
The fruit spectrum here is much like the Estournelles with a greater emphasis on red than black fruit and a beguiling note of minerality followed by concentrated, deep, full, beautifully intense flavors and a reserved, rather linear finish. Plenty of personality despite the understated character. 89-92 points.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, March/April 2003
Deep ruby-red. Black raspberry and subtle oak on the nose; this shows much more energy and verve than the Latricieres, which comes off as dull by comparison. Sweet, chewy and complex, with sharply delineated black raspberry and mineral flavors. This has creamy depth. Finishes with dusty, buffered tannins and excellent persistence. As impressive as the Bonnes-Mares, but the Bonnes-Mares is more elegant. 90-93 points.
