Allen Meadows' Burghound, April 2003
As it always is, this is pure and elegant with predominantly small red berry fruit notes framed by subtle earth aromas that merge seamlessly with the medium weight, intensely flavored, tightly wound mid-section and long, subtly complex finish. This is not a big wine but there is impressive depth and reserve. Understated and fine with impeccable balance. 90-93 points and Outstanding!
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, March/April 2004
Medium red. Superripe aromas of briary berries, chocolate and game; showed finer raspberry and rose petal notes with aeration. Initially offered a supple texture but rather clenched flavors of pomegranate, gingerbread and herbs, but opened nicely with aeration. A serious, structured wine with sneaky persistence. I found myself raising my score as I followed this in the glass. Give it at least five or six years of aging. 90(+?) points. |
